Finished craft corner!

Remember this? This was my craft room for months, right after I moved into my new place.

I actually spun sitting right in the middle of that mess, though it wasn’t exactly conducive to the creative process. When you spend 7 or so waking hours in a room, more on weekends, it’s kind of important that you like the room.

The bookshelf behind my chair holds the large spinning and knitting supplies, as well as my colored roving in glass jars (shout out to Barbara, who had that brilliant idea). Actually seeing my spindles, and the fat jars full of colorful roving inspires me to spin.

I’ve very carefully set up the area that is to my right as I spin. Small items, spinning wheel oil, and a place for a glass of water are all in easy reach in the three drawer side table. A trash can for the odd bits of yarn, and a hidden corner for the bag roving I’m working with flank the table.

I painted the room banana creme, and all of my navy and dark blue accents ended up setting off the cheery wall color nicely. Yellow is a great creative color, I find.

Anyway. Now there’s nothing left to do but spin!

About cliffhousealpacas

Once upon a time, my dad drove by some funny looking animals standing on little dirt hills in a field. Thus, the dream of an alpaca ranch was born. Now, we are embarking on a grand adventure of raising alpacas and becoming fiber artists.

Looks very neat and tidy and I’m sure it’s more conducive to spinning too. Is that the window that broke your finger? Now of course you have to keep it tidy!

    • Ha! It is indeed. Boo window! The finger seems to be almost entirely mended now. It still twinges occasionally, especially if I do any marathon spinning or knitting, but mostly it’s healed.

good! and do you really spend as much as 7 hours a day in your craft room?

      • I definitely do in the summer, because I stay up so late. I’ll get home from work at around 4:30 most evenings, and after walking the dog, I’ll head to the craft room. I eat most of my meals in there, including dinner. So from about 5 to midnight, that’s where I am.

Sounds like a really nice haven. I have a similar room upstairs in my cottage. I have my spinning wheel, sewing machine and computer in there. Also a comfy chair for reading books, which I love to do and a desk. It’s my special place and I love it. I also have an almost full size sheepskin carpet on the floor, which is great for my toes in the winter. 🙂

I’m glad your finger is healing. If you take a look at my blog today (Sunday), you will see my latest skeins of spinning, which I did this week.

I normally just RSS your blog through my reader app, but I had to come on down to admire your new corner! The quote, blanket, lamp, and footstool are PERFECT. Shout-out to Barb for the apothcary jar idea. Looks so tidy and like a wonderful place for creativity to FLOW!
